Africon delivers advanced AI training in Africa, empowering nearly 70 African Union professionals from over 20 countries with practical AI adoption skills for decision-making and governance.

As Africon closed its first full year of operations, we marked a major milestone by delivering advanced AI training in Africa for the African Union, training almost 70 professionals from over 20 African countries in Accra, Ghana.
Delivered through two concurrent AI training tracks, this programme represented more than skills development. It reflected trust, capability, and a growing commitment to AI adoption in African institutions.
The training brought together professionals from Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, Administration, Peace and Security, and other strategic units of the African Union. Participants were exposed to practical artificial intelligence use cases relevant to public sector operations, financial management, governance, and policy work.
By separating participants into foundational and advanced tracks, Africon ensured that both new learners and returning participants gained value appropriate to their experience level. This approach allowed for deeper engagement, hands-on learning, and immediate application to real work environments.
Unlike many AI programmes that focus heavily on theory, this training emphasised practical AI adoption for professionals.
Participants explored AI-assisted financial reporting and analysis, prompt engineering for decision support, responsible AI use and governance, AI tools for policy interpretation and documentation, and leadership mindset for AI adoption.
The objective was clear: to position AI as a decision-support tool, not a replacement for professional judgment.
This programme marked the second AI training delivered by Africon for the African Union in Accra within two months. The decision to host a follow-up session reflects the African Union’s confidence in Africon’s ability to deliver high-impact AI training in Africa, at scale and with consistency.
For Africon, running two tracks concurrently for a continental institution tested our instructional depth, operational systems, facilitation capacity, and ability to deliver enterprise-grade AI education.
